What is the aim of using interdental wedges?
To press a matrix or crown form against the tooth crown in cervical area and avoid the risk of pushing the filling through which might result in gingiva irritations and its recession, that is in exposed tooth necks.
To lead the polymerisation light also into the interdental space. A simultaneous polymerisation of the whole filling layer equally disperses the strains that occur in that process. It allows to reduce significantly the risk of microfissures occurence.
To separate temporarily two tightly fitted teeth in order to put a matrix or crown form.
